About History of Lancashire as of 1825

This database contains a two volume set titled, "History, Directory, and Gazetteer, of the County Palatine of Lancaster," which was published in 1824 and 1825. The first volume contains information on towns with names beginning with the letter "A" through "K". The second volume contains information on towns with names beginning with the letter "L" through "Z." Information that may be found in the historical portion of this work about each town includes descriptions of the local chapels, charities, schools, elections, the population, literature and arts, etc. Another important part of this work consists of the directories that are included for each town. These directories list the names of the inhabitants of each town and are arranged either by profession or trade, or simply by the names of the individuals. Prior to listing this information about the individual towns there is a list of the Seats of the Nobility and Gentry for the entire county of Lancaster. The information found within this work could be valuable to researchers with ancestors from this area. The historical information provided would be beneficial for putting your ancestors into a historical context. The directory would be useful for pinpointing and locating your ancestors in a particular time and place.
