About U.S., College Student Lists, 1763-1924

This database contains a variety of publications listing the names of college students, faculty, alumni, and others associated with universities, colleges, medical schools, and seminaries. They include catalogs of students and officers, histories, biographical sketches, retrospectives, memorials, registers, anniversary books, annual reports, addresses and commencement exercises, alumni lists, lists of lectures and courses, board proceedings, catalogs of fraternity members, and other items.

The majority of the books are from the 19th century, especially the first half of the century. They come from 36 states, most in the New England area, though there are volumes from Ohio, California, Tennessee, Georgia, and even a few from Canada.

What You Can Find in the Records

The books’ contents vary, but they might list names, homerooms, extra-curricular activities, home towns, death dates, and other details.
