Japanese: written 才木 or 斉木 ‘equal’ and ‘tree’. The family bearing this name descends from the Takeda branch of the Minamoto clan and originated in Kai (now Yamanashi prefecture). In North America this name could come also from an altered form of Saeki which is more common in Japan and has a similar pronunciation.
