English: habitational name from Haynes (Bedfordshire) which may derive from Old English hagenas plural form of hagen ‘enclosure’. English: in English counties bordering Wales perhaps from the Welsh personal name Einws (a pet form of Welsh Einion) with a prosthetic H-; see also Enos .
