The Ancestry Digitisation Grant Program for 2022 is now open for submissions.
The aim of this program is to encourage and allow holders of original historical content collections (of any size) to achieve a digitisation outcome that may otherwise be difficult for any number of reasons. Each year, a total of three grants will be awarded within AU & NZ (combined) and scanning would begin at the earliest opportunity. The program is still new (this is only the second year) and as a result I’m expecting there may be some feedback from the community regarding its current structure. I strongly encourage that feedback as ultimately this program exists to support the digitisation of historical collections and should be an easy method in which to achieve that with archives, collectors or collections of any size.
Attached you’ll find a brief which will give you an overview of the grants on offer and some simple Q&As (I hope with your feedback we can add further answers to the Q&A area).
Your feedback and engagement with this program will ensure its suitability and sustainability going forward. I know there’s a near endless volume of historical content that could benefit from being preserved digitally and some of that will be sitting with you or within locations that you know of – so please make use of this program and share your feedback with me. You’re also more than welcome to send on this notification to other archives or locations that may find it useful.
Submissions are welcomed and the current deadline is August 31st 2022, shortly after which the grants will be awarded.
