We are looking for information on a Samuel Croney who came from Barbados. Do you have a Samuel in your line of Croneys?

Dear Suzanne, Hi my name is Laureen Mohler Battershill. I have an inquiry. Do you know when your gr grandparents were married. I found a George Chatman King who married a Henrietta Jane Croney on 25 Jul 1872 in St. John. I also found a christening record for a George Chapman 3 Apr 1847 in St. John, parents Michael King and Sarah. I think the Chatman and Chapman are just different spellings or misreading of the same name. I find that alot. George C. King and Henrietta Jane Croney had one daughter christened 2 Feb 1873 in St. John named Emily Augusta King. There could have been more children but records deteriorate or destroyed or lost. My gr grandmother was Margaret Jane Croney daughter of William Francis Croney and Mary Elizabeth Goddard Beale. I have a gr gr uncle was married to a Josephine King about 1890's. My mother was born in Barbados. I believe there is some King's on my grandmother's side also.

Hi Laurie,
George Chatman King and Henrietta Jane Croney, married on 25 Jul 1872 in St. John were my g grandparents. I have been researching George and Henrietta's other children and have found the following:

Emily Augusta dob 26.12.1872

Catherine Elizabeth dob 3.5.1875

George Clifford dob 11.1.1878

Benjamin Austin dob 13.11.1880

Caroline Alberta dob 18.2.1887

William Dudley dob 5.9.1889

Oliver dob 12.4.1894

and my grandfather

Worrell Noel King dob 10.9.1897

It is possible that there are more children, esp a Hampton King who I have had great difficulty in finding any records for. He is the only King uncle that my father remembered.

I couldn't find Margaret Jane Croney, William Francis Croney, Mary Elizabeth Goddard Beale or Josephine King in my notes but this doesn't mean there is no connection. Do you have the names of any of your Kings? There are lots of connections between Kings, Croneys, Gibsons, Goddards, Fentys etc. I have posted lots of St John King info on the following

Keep in touch, we may be connected.

My grandmother was a Croney from Barbados too. Her name is Alma, and she was one of about "7" siblings. I say 7 because it is difficult to tell, since if an infant died, the next new born was named the same. My grandmother had two previous siblings named Alma.
What is interesting for me is that the name King also appears extensively in our family history. The Croneys and Kings lived in Barbados in an area called "under the hill" in St. John, Barbados. My name is Judy, maiden name, Gooding
