Hi Olive, I believe John Cherrington from Ipswich, England is my 3rd Great Grand Uncle and I have information on him from his time in England. We may be distantly related.

Hi, my James Cherrington was born in 1818. I think the birth place you have should be Trimley St Martin as there is no Frenley in Suffolk and I can see how it could be easily mis-read or transcribed from handwriting. I've found a long line of 19th & 18th century Cherrington families located in the neighbouring villages of Trimley St Martin, Walton and Kirton who must all be connected so I'm sure there is a relationship there with our James', probably cousins. I haven't as yet traced the Cherrington family back far enough to find our common ancestor but my James was born in Walton and was transported to Tasmania in 1844.
