Our family (now based in Ireland, though I work in Kenya) is carrying out ancestry searches, and have quite an extensive genealogical database with over 250 records. We know we have relatvies in Australia (some of whom we are in touch with), New Zealand, Canada, the USA, and the West Indies (in particular Bermuda, Barbados, Belize, Jamaica), in addition to England and Ireland. We can, to date trace our ancestry back to Moses Barrow (born 1697 in England) who was given land in Barbados by King Charles II of England, and apparently had sugar plantations there and in Jamaica. Then they (and one son Simon Barrow, born 1711 in Barbados) became traders in the region with one group moving back to England (from whom we descend). We would be very interested to hear from anyone who might be related. Since it is difficult (and slow) for us to go on www please use our email address (barrow@form-net.com).

You may have our missing link for most of the Fl, Al and Ga barrows or we may have yours. Would you please share your tree with family groups from your John G forward. I am relatively sure we can help from him back. Do you know where John G was born in what state? Is his father part of the John Barrow and Sarah Sutton. I have most of this line. Mine branches off at Richard I son of William. Richard's son Ruebin his son Absolum his son Benjamin his son James Vann, his son James Madison, his son Nicholas Edward, his son Lewey Franklin and then his daughter, me Mary Barrow Bond The original John Barrow of our line is in Perquimins NC then William is in Bath, Beaufort Co. NC Then Reubin is in Warren Co. Ga and Absolum is in Conecuh Co. AL Benjamin is in Santa Rosa Co., Fl and the rest are in Walton Co. more recently Okaloosa Co. Fl. There are a good dozen that are trying to sort out the John's and John G's in the south and all trying to make the connection. In my case Absolum had a brother John. I think John G. Don't know if it stood for Green, Grey or ? There are several in southern states. I am anxiously waiting your reply. Hope we can help you too. please email me at HKBond@hotmail.com I am Mary Barrow Bond I do have some of the Barrow Family Quarterlies from the Barrow Family Association for reference that may be of some help.

Hi. I have just found out that my great grandmother Francis Milsted that her maiden name was Barrow. My dad obtained her death certificate. I am new in the Barrow research. The Barrows were living in Pollard, AL in 1870 Census. Just down the road were my Milsted's. George B. Milsted married Fannie Barrow c. 1872. These are my GG grandparents. I have an on-line family tree and photos of numerous tombstones on www.findagrave.com. My dad found out that Fannie's father was Thomas Jefferson Barrow who m. Catherine. His father was Absalom who m. Lavina or Lavinia who was the son of Ruebin Barrow and Milbre or Milbra. If you have any information that you are willing to share, please e-mail me.

Thank you,

Tami

Hi. I am a descendant of Simon Barrow living in South Africa via Samuel Barrow, a barrister of Australia, one of 13 children of Simon of Bath, and Frank Barrow. My grandfather was Benjamin Barrow. Simon Barrow (Baruch) was the last generation of practising Sephardic Jews in the family. The Baruch family came from Morocco and were among the Portuguese and Spanish Sephardic Jews who went to the West Indies etc, and later petitioned Cromwell in 1655 for recognition. This resulted in land grants, or secure tenure after British conquest of Jamaica in particular. They were slave plantation owners. Very wealthy. His children/ descendants left the jewish faith in order to take up rank in the colonial service and military. You grandfather (?) Sir Edmund Barrow was one of these.
The family DNA has Moroccan strand.
Please contact me for more information.

Hi

I don't think Isaac Barrow is a Barbados Barrow, but Nina Atkins has shown me the Cheesman Barbados Barrow book and his Isaac Barrow book both of which which I now have.

For the status of what is currently known about the Lousadas and Barrows from Jamaica and Barbados, the following website has been launched - barrow-lousada.org - comments welcome!

Cheers

Julian

The names that you list, Simon, Samuel, Frank, Edmund, and Moses are all names of early Barrows in VA. Do you know of any of your line who came to VA? Also we have DNA on our particular line, could you tell me where your family DNA is posted? Thanks.
