Do you have more info on the Larrivee. Larivee, Arrive, or LaRivee, (is Lariviere also one of the various spellings?) descendants? I have a record of Marriages beginning with the names above in 1666 ending with a ninth generation. The LaRivee descendants lived in Lynn. Mass, USA. Thank you......Jeanne

There is a coat of arms for the family it depicts a gold heron flying in front of a green willow on a blue background. I am told it was one of a very few granted to someone in the new world. In fact the full name L'Arrivee de Beusneau translates into "Point of Arrival in the New Woods"

Donald,
That is so beautiful as well as interesting.
Does that mean that we, of all the various spellings, can claim it for our own?
Do I sound like a novice, or WHAT?....Jeanne

Coat of Arms

In the sense of a Coat of Arms, they technically only belong to the person they are granted to. Titles and Arms can transcend from one generation to the next and there are minor changes as they are passed along. Here in the USA, no one person or family has exclusive rights to a coat of arms. There is no Heraldic College overseeing proper ownership. Most people who are descended from those families who have been granted Arms, do display them with pride; and are free to do so. Much in the way of a family placing their fathers Silver Star on the wall, as long as they don't wear the award on their own uniform. I have a copy of the Larrivee Arms somewhere around here, when I find it I will post it for you.
