Dear Rapins,
Thank you so much for the responding to my search. I have been looking for a long time and haven't heard until now.
What I know is that my great-grandmother was named Harriet E. (Mimi) Rapin from Rapinville, MI. Her husband was John William Murray (my great grandfather). Their son James Rapin Murray (my granfather). They lived around Detroit, MI and had a company called The Murray Manufacturing Co. I only know the stories my father told of her. She spoke very little English. My father was raised speaking French and English. I am very interested in any information you can share about this little researched part of my family. Please contact me at the following email address. I look forward to hearing from you.
Best regards,
Mara Murray

family tree
Eric, I saw your name on the Rapin family tree message board and thought I'd see if you have any information on a William or Frank Rapin who I believe would be your grandfather or great grandfather's brothers. My name is Victoria Rappin. My grandfather was Allen Rapin from Michigan and I have conflicting information on his brothers William and recently found a birth listing for a Frank Rapin that my father knew nothing about. I thought he could possibly have died as an infant as I'm finding a birth date but no date of death. I'm also looking for info on Rapinville Michigan as I am finding no info on the internet. We are definitely from the same family. I have some photos of my great grandfather Jean Baptiste Rapin on my website and also of George A Rapin
- sheriff of St Ignace Michigan if you're interested. My webpage address is http;// If you click on my fathers name John Rappin it will take you to his father and so on. If you click on the birthdate of Allen Rapin I believe that will show you most of his siblings etc. Just watch the status bar as you go over the links to see the description of whats there. I'm far from finished and I have many more photos to add. If you have any information to add just drop me a line. Thanks, Your Cousin Vicki

Rapinville MI, Mackinac County: This rural post office in Garfield Township was opened on July 28, 1886, and was named for farmer Edmund A. Rapin who became its first postmaster; the office operated until August 15, 1906 {GSM 1887-95; PO Archives}.

Eric, this office opened around the same time my Great Grandfather was born, Napoleon Rapin, son of Adelaide Leduc, Daughter of Geremio Leduc and Mary Bruneau. Is Napoleon a son or nephew of Edmunds?

This may or may not help but I am a descendant of William Andrew Rapin who died in Genesee County (Flint, MI) in the early 1960's.

My great-grandfather, William, married Bernadette Keyjandaway( sp?) who was full-blooded Chippewa ( her parents were Joseph and Mary). There were several family reunions held in St. Ignace in the mid 1980's and I was told that my great-grandparents were from that area. They moved to Genesee County during the massive hiring by Buick Motors, where William worked in the foundry.

I have info(another index card ) on Joe Rapin
I do not know if this is the same Joe above or if it is another son Joe, the marriage above says "Jane" Belleville
and this card says "Emma Belleville"

( it could be that there are two joe's and they have different middle names or first names ie: Joseph Napoleon, and the other is Andre Joseph. OR something similar to that)
And it also could be that his wifes name was Emma Jane for all that i know and these are all the same people?????
ihave no idea
but this is what is written:
Here is the info on Joe.
