When was your Peter Ackert born? I also have
a Great Grandfather Peter (Abel) Ackert b. 1822
in Saratoga County, NY. He had an older brother
Gerrit Vandenbergh Ackert, who had a son, William
b. abt. 1841, who moved to Maine from Michigan in
in the 1860's to 1870's. Do you know your Peter
Ackert's father? Was he from Maine? Or was your
G.Grandfather from the Hartford, CT branch?

I have been looking for a Jane Ackert, born 9 December 1822, in Pennsylvania or New York, married Allen Corner, 17 August 1840, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, died 29 August 1858, in Ontario. Have you ever come across her?

I'm new at this but do have a little Ackert info. in case you are interested. Could be connected, not sure. I had a great great great grandfather, Herman Ackert who was Holland Dutch and married Amy Carpenter. They had one child, Nelson Ackert b.1808 in Sarasota Cty, N.Y.,d.3/21/1903. He married Eliza Ann Danforth in 1831 in Jefferson Cty, N.Y. She died 4/1889. Nelson Eliza's only child, Louise Josette Ackert b.1/15/1832 at Philadelphia, N.y. Jefferson Cty. She married Christopher Baldwin Bennett 7/12/1854. Before Herman, all I have is a (5)greats grandmother who was a Fenner who was a sister of the Governor of Rhode Island, then her daughter (4) greats Grandmother Comstock, and then Herman Ackert who must have been her son. Am not sure how all this fits but I got this info from a great aunt.

Pat, my line intersects with yours at Solomon
Ackert,b. 1853. Your ancestor was Harmanus
in the Schaghticoke Ref.Dutch Church,Renss.Co.NY.
in 1779. My Gr.Gr.Grandfather was Sybrant,b.1786.

Looks like you have "home sources" because of your
date of birth for Nelson. Our branch of the Ackert
begins with immigrant ancestor Johann Adam Eckhardt
from Wiesbaden, Hessen, Germany. Solomon m. Elizabeth
Quackenbush (Neth. Dutch) and Sybrant m. Marytie
Van Den Bergh.

would you be interested in sharing dates, places and
sources? I've got info downstream as well up
upstream on the Ackert's.

Yes I would love to share info. on the Ackerts. All the info so far I've got from a great aunt, Annetta Bennett. Herman Ackert was my great great great grandfather so of course Nelson was my great great grandfather. All the info I have I could send by email and my email is My family goes from the Hagans to Bennetts to Ackerts, McCords, Horns, Lepleys on my mother's side. I have a lot more info on all of them than I do the Ackerts, but will be happy to email you what I have. I've only recently started checking through the internet so am new to all of this. Hope to hear from you soon and thanks. Pat

Virtually all Ackerts in the U.S. are descended from Adam Eckhardt, No. 154 on Governor Hunter's Subsistence List, who arrived in New York in 1710 as part of the great Palatine Migration. See, "The Palatine Families of New York, 1710" (Jones)

Hi Stan,

My cousin Gene Ackert and I have the same 2nd gr.
grandfather, Sybrant Ackert, son of Solomon Ackert
son of David, son of Adam, son of Samuel son of
Gerlach. The latter 2 ancestors are from "More
Palatine Families, also by Henry Z.Jones jr.

Gerlach was from Konigsberg, north of Wetzlar, Hessen

That Peter Ackert referred to in my posting might
have been named after his uncle, my ancestor Peter
A. Ackert. William, s/o Gerritt disappears when
he moved to Maine.
