NEW AUSTRALIAN COLLECTION | |
|
NSW Public Service Lists & Government Appointments |
Think you might be descended from the Governor-General of New South Wales, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, or Bishop of Sydney? Or maybe the Night Watchman for the Office of Colonial Distilleries, Assistant Inspector at the Glebe Island Abattoir, or Superintendent for the Management of Alpacas?
If your ancestor had a job connected to, licensed by, or paid for by the
Government of New South Wales (including positions in the Church and Education), the New South Wales, Public Service Lists, 1858–1870 and New South Wales, Record of Appointments to Government Offices, 1814–1825 will be worth exploring. |

London Wills and Probate, 1525–1858 |
Wills are truly personal documents, often written by your ancestor’s own hand. This new collection of London Wills and Probate from 1525–1858, launched in association with the London Metropolitan Archive, details some of the largest inheritances passed down in the early years of the City of London’s history.
To coincide with this launch we are also allowing free access to the England and Wales National Probate Calendar 1861–1941 until 8th July. Along with telling you where your British ancestors may have died – and revealing the value of the estate they left – it provides a vital link to wills and probate records created in England and Wales during the period. |

Dorset and West Yorkshire Parish records |
|
If you have ancestors from Dorset or West Yorkshire you’ll enjoy searching over 500 years of parish registers to see what secrets you can uncover.
Parish registers let you uncover your family's baptisms, marriages, and burials through years of religious and civil change. These crucial records are the most comprehensive lists of your ancestors' vital events until civil registration started in 1837 – and even after that date they can help solve research puzzles. |
